Summary

Sir William Berkeley was the longest-serving governor of Virginia (from 1642 to 1652, and from 1660 until his death in 1677). He was an advocate for economic diversification and promoted trade between the colonists and the Virginia Indians. He is known for being a peacekeeper who discouraged prosecution of religious minorities, and for crushing Nathaniel Bacon's Rebellion of 1676.

Complete with illuminating historical background and an engrossing narrative, this eBook relates the story of a key figure in colonial history.
