This edition has been substantially revised and made much more comprehensive with new maps, graphs, and charts, as well as a new notes section. In addition, the narrative, chronology, and eyewitness testimony sections, as well as appendixes, biographies, and the bibliography have been expanded and revised. About the Author(s)
Judith Freeman Clark holds a B.A. and an M.A. in American history from the University of Massachusetts and an M.Div. from Boston University School of Theology. She is the author of seven books, including Almanac of American Women in the 20th Century and Massachusetts: From Colony to Commonwealth. For Facts On File, she coauthored the original and revised editions of The Encyclopedia of Child Abuse. Her work has appeared in various periodicals, including Yankee magazine and Reader’s Digest, and such books as Encyclopedia of World Biography, Almanac of American History, and Civil War Almanac.
